Artistic Director: Louise Deleur
Louise graduated from the Australian Ballet School in 1985 and was offered positions with the Australian Ballet and the West Australian Ballet Company. She joined the WA Ballet Company and spent 3 years working with directors and choreographers including Chrissi Parrot, Garth Welsh, Beryl Grey and Barry Morland. In 1988, she moved to Sydney and spent 4 years with the Sydney Dance Company, working with choreographers and directors such as Graeme Murphy, Ohad Naharin, Lambros Lambro, Gideon Obarzanek, Stephan Page, Kim Walker, and Ralph Lemon.
In 1993, Louise left the Sydney Dance Company to pursue further opportunities as a freelance dancer and choreographer, working in the more commercial side of dance, film, television and theatre in Australia. In 1997, she performed as a guest artist with West Australian Ballet company. Louise moved to Brisbane in 1998 to work as an independent choreographer and professional teacher of classical and contemporary ballet technique. She also spent a total of a year in New York studying with masters of classical, contemporary, jazz and the Pilates Method. In 2001, Louise was invited to spend 2 years as a Guest Professor of Classical Ballet at Taipei National University of the Arts. Louise returned to Brisbane in 2004, and continued working as a dancer, choreographer, teacher in classical and contemporary styles and curriculum consultant. In 2006, she established her own independent contemporary dance company, Lucid Dance Theatre, which has subsequently produced and performed three full length works in Brisbane.
Over the last 14 years, she has created works for Sydney Dance Company, Queensland Theatre Company, Australian Opera, West Australian Academy Performing Arts, Taipei National University of Arts and Queensland Ballet Professional Year and undertaken collaborative work with Circa. In 2006, Louise was nominated by Francois Klaus to choreograph a work for Dance Creation in Melbourne and her short work Troon ii was performed at the World Dance Alliance, Global Summit in 2008. In 2009 Louise produced three works for Qld. Ballet Company."Future" A solo collaboration with Todd Sutherland first performed for Circa's New Circus Now Program and "Morning Star". A trio performed with musicians from the Southern Cross Soloists as well as "Linage" for their main stage international Gala. In 2010 she created a work in collaboration with Topology for Qld Ballet's "With Attitude" Season.
In 2011 Louise was awarded a residency with the Judith Wright Centre of Performing Arts where she created a full length work "Dancing with Bach" for her company Lucid Dance Theatre.
